Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik Travel

Dubrovnik is a Croatian city on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea.  In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites, and now it is full of Game Of Thrones fans, who love to walk around King´s Landing.”

Dubrovnik has actually two names, and the second one is Ragusa. Because of its favorable position which was historically based on maritime trade, Dubrovnik has been the center for wealth and skilled diplomacy.  Dubrovnik “Dubron” is a Celtic name meaning “water” and Ragosa is based on latin which is still used by Italians.  This city is incredibly full of historical events, could spend the whole day and blog post writing about it, but I will try to keep it short.  As you could imagine, this place is full of tourist. During the summer period you could wait for quite some time until they let you in, as the capacity of the city is full.  It is also full of events, and the most popular one is  Dubrovnik Summer Festival, a 45-day-long cultural event with live plays, concerts, and games.

This year I have visited Dubrovnik with Francois and our friends Greta and Di. Greta is an international vintage model and Di producer from China, so we had a lot of things to discuss about, time went so fast. We have stayed couple of days there and it was quite fun. Jazz clubs, fancy restaurants, bars with view… Perfect for a start of a long trip in Mediterranean.  It sounds lovely, but it is also not so cheap place to visit as the center is more expensive than London or Paris.

Here are some pictures of the city,  you may notice a certain stairs. Yes, yes those are the “shame” stairs while Cersei was doing her walk of shame.
